I hope that this email is useful, and that you are able to spend a few minutes at noon each day, as we pray together as a church family.  Please do keep sending your prayer suggestions to me, so that we can make sure we are praying around the needs, burdens and encouragements of our whole church family.

Praying for the Parish

Please pray this week for all in these roads:

  • Oak Lane
  • Oakwell Drive

The Collect for 21 - 26 June

O God, the protector of all who trust in you,
without whom nothing is strong, nothing is holy:
increase and multiply upon us your mercy;
that with you as our ruler and guide
we may so pass through things temporal
that we lose not our hold on things eternal;
grant this, heavenly Father,
for our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

Monday

Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.

He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” (Mark 4:39-40, NIV)

Loving Father, please help us to know the peace that comes from faith in Jesus Christ. Calm our troubled hearts, give us confidence in our future, and help us to live at peace with those around us. Amen.

Tuesday

As life without restrictions keeps being postponed, and limitations to our activities and our interactions with those we love continue, we pray that you will keep us from sinking into bitterness and negativity. Please fill us with your joy, and keep us assured: that our eternal hope in Christ is certain and can never be taken away from us. Amen

Wednesday

Loving Father, we pray for all those we know who are ill or in pain at home, and all those we know who are being cared for in hospital. We pray for them, that you will comfort them and be present in their pain, and that you will help those who are caring for them to do so wisely and well. We pray, too, for loved ones waiting at home. Please give all who are suffering grace to wait, energy to keep going, and faith to know that your love can be relied on through any trial. Amen

Thursday

God, thank You for the men and women who serve our country in leadership roles and for their families. Please provide our leaders with reminders each day of why they decided to dedicate their lives to public service, and use that commitment to encourage them. Give them peace when their work takes them away from their families. We also pray specifically for the wives, husbands, and children of our leaders. We ask that You draw near to them and give them the wisdom on how to best support one another while their loved one is away working. Amen

Friday

We pray for guidance as the government considers when and how restrictions could be lifted. We pray for the efficacy of the vaccines, and that the Delta variant would not cause further serious illness or deaths. Please give a new start to countries around the world, as we gradually come out of lockdown. Amen

Saturday

Eternal God, Creator and Father of all,
We thank you for this wonderful world,
For ever-changing skies, the blessed winds, and the earth beneath our feet.
We thank you that your Son gave life’s loveliness in sacrifice for us.
In our turn, and in great humility, we offer our lives.
All that we do and all that we say, we give in joyful and willing service to You.
Amen
