Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. (John 3:5, NIV)

Our big theme for this Lent is "From Death to Life". As we continue this Sunday, we start to see the promise of life that Jesus brings. He promises that we can enter the kingdom of God, but only by being reborn. We can have life, rather than death, only by God's grace to us. Why not join us this Sunday, as we find out more about his promise of life?

You would be very welcome at our 10:30am service in St Andrew, Cuffley or at 9am for a service of Holy Communion in St Thomas, Northaw, this Sunday.

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. (Matthew 4:1-2, NIV)

This Sunday is the first in Lent, and we begin a series that will take us from death to life through Jesus. As the forty days of Lent begin, we start with Jesus fasting for forty days in the wilderness. There, we’ll see how he succeeds in following God where Adam failed, where the nation of Israel failed — and where we fail too. That’s great news for us, because Jesus is the faithful Son who stood firm for us.

Once, on being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, ‘The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, “Here it is,” or “There it is,” because the kingdom of God is in your midst.’ (Luke 17:20-21, NIV)

Where is the kingdom of God? Is it something we can see? Is is already here? What about the future - is it still to come? Why not come along on Sunday and find out more?

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him – and he was a Samaritan. (Luke 17:15-16, NIV)
