Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting for forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. (Matthew 4:1-2, NIV)

This Sunday is the first in Lent, and we begin a series that will take us from death to life through Jesus. As the forty days of Lent begin, we start with Jesus fasting for forty days in the wilderness. There, we’ll see how he succeeds in following God where Adam failed, where the nation of Israel failed — and where we fail too. That’s great news for us, because Jesus is the faithful Son who stood firm for us.

You would be very welcome at our 10:30am service in St Andrew, Cuffley or at 9am for a service of Holy Communion in St Thomas, Northaw, this Sunday.

The 10:30am service will also be streamed. This will start at 10:25am, and can be accessed directly via YouTube or Facebook, found on our website, and is advertised on our Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Children’s Church

There is no children’s church this Sunday, as we all meet together in the main body of the building.

Bring & Share Lunch

After the morning service this Sunday, we are having a Bring & Share lunch in St Andrew's. Please use the sign up sheet at the back of the church, indicating what you might bring. There is no charge for this, but donations will be welcome.

Annual Lecture

Unfortunately, the planned speaker for this year’s Rachel Bradgate Lecture has had to cancel, due to ill health. We are looking for a replacement speaker, but that will delay the timing for this year.

Rotas

We very much value and appreciate all the different people that welcome and help with refreshments, and the different voices that we hear from the front. We always welcome new people to these roles, even if infrequently, and we have some spaces at the moment. If you don’t already help, and this would be something you would like to do, please talk to Chris.

We’re currently using self-signup for the various rotas: blank rotas will be pinned up at the back of St Andrew. If you are one of our regular welcomers, readers, pray-ers, communion assistants, or refreshment helpers, please do sign up where you are able to.

Rotas for services in February and March are now available. Readings are pinned on the board for you to take.

Stay & Play

Our church school, Northaw School, runs 'Stay and Play' every Thursday from 9-10:15am during term time. This is a free event, and open to children aged 0-5.

Sponsor a chair?

Would you be able to sponsor a new chair for St Andrew’s? Each chair will cost us around £80, and we would be very grateful for any donations towards the new chairs. You can give in the usual ways, please mark your donation as ‘Chairs’.

Bible Reading Resources

There are a lot of resources available online to help with Bible reading. A few of them are here, in case they are helpful for you.

Home Communion

If you’re not able to join us on Sundays, and would appreciate a visit with Holy Communion, please be in touch with Chris.

Coffee Shop

Our weekly Coffee Shop will be taking place this Wednesday from 10:30 in St Andrew, you are very welcome to join us.
