I hope that this email is useful, and that you are able to spend a few minutes at noon each day, as we pray together as a church family.  Please do keep sending your prayer suggestions to me, so that we can make sure we are praying around the needs, burdens and encouragements of our whole church family.

Praying for the Parish

Please pray this week for all in these roads:

  • Sopers Road
  • South Drive

The Collect for 19 - 24 July

Almighty and everlasting God,
Lord of all power and might,
the author and giver of all good things:
graft in our hearts the love of your name,
increase in us true religion,
nourish us with all goodness,
and of your great mercy keep us in the same;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

Monday

Jesus said to his disciples, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” (Mark 6:31, NIV)

Loving Father, it is easy for us to seek satisfaction and rest in places that are unhelpful and do not bring rest. Please help us to find hope, certainty and rest in and through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Please pray for the PCC as they meet this evening.

Please also pray today for Ireland.

Tuesday

We pray, Lord, for staff and students across the country, especially those we know, as schools finish the academic year this week, with the end of term once again overshadowed by illness and isolation for so many. Please, Lord, would you bring rest, comfort and healing to those who are tired or ill. Please would you be with those who are suffering, both physically and simply through disappointment due to missing important landmarks, and would you enable good rest and recovery for everyone over the holidays. Amen.

Please also pray today for Israel.

Wednesday

God of peace, we pray for countries broken and divided by war,
For all people facing ethnic violence and hatred,
All who are being discriminated against.
We remember those being robbed of their homes,
Of their land or their livelihoods.
Lord we call to you, hear us and answer us. Amen.

Please also continue to pray today for Israel.

Thursday

God of Peace, we pray for our country as restrictions are eased, and many place their hope in the vaccination programme. We know that you are the Hope of the Nations; please help us to trust eternally in you. Please would you be with everyone involved in strategies and with medical responses; would you give them clarity and wisdom to monitor and respond well. Amen

Please also today for Italy.

Friday

Heavenly Father, open our eyes to see you as we walk on our daily journey through this life. Give us the vision to see your holiness in other people, your beauty in all that you have made. Guide us, teach us, enlighten us until the night is at hand, and as this life darkens, let us see you in a greater light. Amen.

Please also continue to pray today for Italy.

Saturday

Dear God, our hearts are burdened for our friends, especially Pamela and others who we know, who are hurting or sick. We ask that you would be their comforter, that you would cover them with your infinite grace and mercy, surrounding them in peace during this dark season. We pray for fresh grace, for renewed strength, for your goodness and mercy over their lives today. We thank you that you alone are our refuge and strong tower. We thank you that no matter what we face, you are still on the throne, you are still in control, and nothing can ever stand against you. Thank you that you hold the victory in this world, and you have promised in your Word that you will be with us through any hardship we may face. Amen

Please also pray today for Jamaica.
