Jesus replied, ‘My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.’ (Luke 8:21, NIV)
Family can be an odd thing: we don't choose who is in it, and sometimes it's not always great. Jesus offers something different — a family that we can choose to be part of, a family with God at the centre, and a family that, one day, will be perfect. Why not come along this Sunday to find out more about how to be part of this family, and what it means for us now?
And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’ (Luke 3:22, NIV)
The Bible passage for Sunday morning is the Baptism of Jesus, where Jesus goes into the water to be baptised by John the Baptist. Why does Jesus need to be baptised? What does it mean for us that Jesus was baptised? Why not come along and find out why this is such good news for us, and for everyone?
‘ … and they will call him Immanuel’ (which means ‘God with us’) (Matthew 1:23, NIV)
You would be very welcome to join us at 10am in St Andrew, Cuffley this Wednesday, for our all-age Christmas Celebration. There will also be a short service of Holy Communion afterwards.
‘But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times.’ (Micah 5:2, NIV)
It's the final Sunday of Advent - Christmas Day is only 5 sleeps away! In the book of the prophet Micah, God promises a rule who will come from Bethlehem. A ruler who is ancient, and who will be a shepherd-like king, bringing security and peace to God's people. Spoiler: that's Jesus! Come and find out more this Sunday.
The LORD your God ... will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17, NIV)
In amongst the busyness of Advent and Christmas, it's easy to feel that we've lost the joy of the season. The adverts promise us the most wonderful time of the year, but the reality is often quite different. Would it help to know that God delights in you, he loves you, and he rejoices over you? Why not find out more in our services, this Sunday?
