All services are now in St Thomas.

‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’ (Luke 10:41-42, NIV)

The account of Mary and Martha seems to contrast actions with simply being with Jesus. It raises a question of what is the most important thing in life? Is doing things not important? How should we approach following Jesus, with all the demands on our lives? Why not join us this Sunday as we find out more?

You would be very welcome at our 10:30am service in St Thomas, Northaw or at 9am for a service of Holy Communion in St Thomas, Northaw, this Sunday.

With our move to St Thomas, we haven't been able to get our streaming set up working. The internet available to use isn't good enough to stream from the church. We are still looking at solutions and, if we are able to put it in place, we will do so.

Children’s Church

Our children’s church meets this Sunday morning in Northaw School. Children are welcome from 10:20, and will join us in St Thomas towards the end of the service.

Tom's funeral is on Wednesday 6th August at 1:30pm, in St Thomas, Northaw.

Wednesdays

Because of the car-park closure (details below), there will be no Wednesday service or Coffee Shop on 30th July or 6th August.

Vacancies

Following our annual meetings we have a vacancy for two churchwardens and one representatives on the Deanery Synod (and a treasurer). If you’d like to know more about them (without any commitment), please talk to Chris.

Rotas

We very much value and appreciate all the different people that welcome and help with refreshments, and the different voices that we hear from the front. We always welcome new people to these roles, even if infrequently, and we have some spaces at the moment. If you don’t already help, and this would be something you would like to do, please talk to Chris.

We’re currently using self-signup for the various rotas: blank rotas will be pinned up at the back of St Thomas. If you are one of our regular welcomers, readers, pray-ers, communion assistants, or refreshment helpers, please do sign up where you are able to.

Rotas for services in July to September are now available.

Gala Day

The timing of the works in St Andrew’s has meant that we have decided to postpone the planned Gala Day from 21 June to 20 September. We will be combining it with the planned Flower Festival.

Temporary Closure of Maynard Place Car Park

We have been advised of a temporary closure to Maynard Place Car Park:

"Maynard Place Car Park will be closed for 7 working days from Monday, 28th July while essential drainage works are carried out.

"We anticipate that the car park will reopen on Wednesday, 6th August."

Road Closure

We have been advised of a road closure at Cattlegate Road:

"There will be a hard closure of Northaw Road East at Cattlegate Road between 23rd July – 27th August while Cadent carry out pipe replacements.

"There will be access only allowed from Cuffley to the Playing Field, and homes/businesses on Northaw Road East, but there will be no access through to Cuffley from Cattlegate Road, or Northaw, except via Vineyards Road.

"The works need to happen for public safety and they cannot do the work using traffic lights, as the road is too narrow for the trench required for the works plus the safety distance required for the crew to carry out the work, so the road has to close."

9am services

Because of the vicar's leave, and the difficulty of finding cover, there will be no 9am services on the 27th July and the 3rd, 10th, and 17th August.

Vicar's Leave

Chris is on leave from the 25th of July until the 18th of August.
