I hope that this email is useful, and that you are able to spend a few minutes at noon each day, as we pray together as a church family.  Please do keep sending your prayer suggestions to me, so that we can make sure we are praying around the needs, burdens and encouragements of our whole church family.

Praying for the Parish

Please pray this week for all in these roads:

The Collect for 12 - 17 July

Merciful God,
you have prepared for those who love you
such good things as pass our understanding:
pour into our hearts such love toward you
that we, loving you in all things and above all things,
may obtain your promises,
which exceed all that we can desire;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen

Monday

At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Saviour, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. (Titus 3:3-7, NIV)

Eternal God, please help us to remember who we once were, and to see clearly that we are now your chosen people, saved by Jesus because of his great love and mercy for us. As we look towards the certain hope of eternal life, please help us to be eager to do good and to live godly lives in gratitude for all you have done for us. Amen.

Tuesday

Father, we continue to thank you for the vaccines and medical care we have in our country, as the pandemic goes through its phases and waves. As we adjust to changing regulations, please would you help us enjoy and be grateful for everything you give us, and for the freedoms we do have. Please would you help us to care for everyone we meet and interact with, both those who are more cautious than we are, and for those who are more confident than we are; whenever it is tempting to judge, please help us instead to continue to put others first, and to be gentle and patient with everyone around us, in your precious name. Amen

Wednesday

To your keeping, O Lord God,
we commend all whose enjoyment of life
has been taken away by sickness, by tragedy or by evil wrongdoing.
May your love sustain them in their suffering,
and may your people care for them.
In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Amen.

Thursday

God, thank You for the men and women who serve our country in leadership roles and for their families. Please provide our leaders with reminders each day of why they decided to dedicate their lives to public service, and use that commitment to encourage them. Give them peace when their work takes them away from their families. We also pray specifically for the wives, husbands, and children of our leaders. We ask that You draw near to them and give them the wisdom on how to best support one another while their loved one is away working.

Friday

Lord Jesus Christ, you said to your disciples,
‘I am with you always’.
Be with me today, as I offer myself to you.
Hear my prayers for others and for myself,
and keep me in your care.

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

Saturday

Heavenly Father, thank you for the children who have been coming to Children's Church for the past few weeks, and for the volunteer team who have been looking after them there. As they finish their Epic Explorers course tomorrow and think about what it means for them to follow Jesus, we pray that you will grow their faith in you, and help them to understand that you truly love them and that you are truly worth following today. Please would you help us to understand these truths even more ourselves day by day. Amen
